Work-a-holic? Or just being lazy??
Does anyone has a clear guideline on how to determine if one is a work-a-holic?
There are quite a number of my colleagues seems to enjoy working quite a bit. I heard them complaining that they have nothing to do at home when they were forced to take leaves. (consider it paid leave, as it is time-off in lieu). I don't really seeing them complaining when they have to work around the clock. For me, it seems that they really enjoy working. What do you think?
If we see eye to eye on this conclusion, i need to ask you something. Do u think they are work-a-holic?
If yes, shd we call them work-a-holic simply because they dun complain and probably enjoy working that much? Isn't it a good thing to enjoy doing something that is good for yourself and society?
If not, don't you think that they are some what obsessive compulsive?
Pchycologist says it is considered a problem if it adversely affect your social relationships. Err... Quite a vague statement. To what extend is it considered "affecting" you social life? When you don't have a time to listen to a friend whining? Or when you don't have time to accompany your wife to shop? (I think that is the main reasons someone become work-a-holic. Haha...)
Ok, then another scenario. Ben always give time to the family and friends + and exercise a bit and keep himself in good shape + keep everything else organised. But he don't really spend any time pampering himself. He has no desire, other than working, of course. Is that the best scenario that can be?
Shakespeare: To be or not to be, that is the question...
(Gimme some input on this. And please help me to develop the scale if you guys have any comment, idea, revelation or anything resembles that. Thanks in advance...)

Un-named Scale (Pls help me to figure out a name for this)
Sub-Zero: Parasit (Maybe i am too harsh....)
The value of life is about the enjoyment that you get out of it. If my life is spent on dealing with the jerks, then how should i enjoy my life? By the way, there are so many successful people around me. As a friend and family, it is natural that they should help me out, right? I treated them so well all the time...
Ground Zero: Lazy
Dun enjoy working at all. There are so many jerks out there. Office politics, ridiculously demanding boss and the list goes on and on. Only if i can stop working...
Level 1: Moderate
Well, working can be quite fun sometimes. Besides, we must work for the resources we enjoy. We cannot just be a parasit to the society, right? It is very boring sitting at home and do nothing at all. However, working can sometimes be boring too. The boring repeating jobs and demanding bosses. Overall, it is ok and acceptable to work. Things are not any better if i were not working. I just want a stable and moderate life.
Level 2: Hardworking
The whole meaning of life is about what you can achieve. Pure enjoyment is a waste of life as it does not helping the society. If everyone do not contribute to the society, the civilization will not develop, not to mention the possibility of regression. I enjoy the fact that i am achieving something good for the society and get rewarded with money, power and status.
Level 3: Work-a-holic
Life sucks. There are so many people out there who are just too difficult to understand. Working is in turn simpler. You will get rewarded for what you have contributed. People recognise your hardworking and achievements.
